Dentures (also known as false teeth) are synthetic replacement for natural teeth. They are made to replace one tooth, several, or all of your teeth. There are many reasons for loss of teeth. Some of them are:
When teeth are missing, facial muscles can sag over time. Properly fitted dentures can help to prevent your face from sagging, thereby giving benefits like
We, at R.K. Dental Clinic provide the following types of dentures. Denture type that would best suit you depends on your oral health condition and lifestyle.
Complete dentures (full dentures) are removable replacements for a patient’s entire set of teeth. Complete dentures can be either “conventional” or “immediate”.
But the downside of conventional dentures is the lack of anchorage in the bone. This leads to reduced chewing force, speech impediments etc.,
A removable partial denture is designed to replace one or more missing teeth. They are fabricated to fit between existing teeth.
Another addition to partial dentures is flexible denture. Unlike the traditional ones, flexible dentures are very gentle on your gums. They do not have any sharp metal hooks and ridge edges. Also less likely to be dislodged by chewing.
For those patients who do not like the slipping and sliding feel of removable dentures, we do offer implant supported dentures.
These are also called as ‘clip on dentures’. Instead of resting on your gums, implant supported dentures will snap onto dental implants placed in your jawbone.
The treatment is particularly more suitable for people who lost their teeth a long time ago. It does not matter if you are too old, if you fulfill the criteria for implant placement you can enjoy the benefits of a snug fit dentures.
BPS stands for Bio functional prosthetic system. At R.K. Dental Clinic, we use BPS system for our implant retained dentures. BPS system offers the highest standard in aesthetics and comfort. So, the dentures look more life-like and fit better than the typical set of dentures.
