Cavities and tooth decay are the world’s most common health problems. You may not be aware that a cavity is forming. That’s why we recommend having regular checkups and cleaning. When a cavity is just beginning, it can be filled to prevent further decay. There are various types of tooth fillings:

  • Gold
  • Silver Amalgam
  • Tooth colored fillings / composites
  • Porcelain and Glass ionomers
Advantages of tooth colored filling

Aesthetics: Unlike the silver amalgam and gold fillings, the shade and color of the composites can be closely matched to your existing teeth. So no one else can tell that you have had a cavity!

Conservative treatment: The tooth color filling actually bonds well to your natural teeth. So we tend to remove less tooth structure while removing decay thereby retaining most of the healthier tooth structure intact.

Mercury free: Silver amalgam fillings contain mercury which is considered to be toxic. Though the level of mercury is less, it is better to go for a mercury free option such as tooth colored fillings – composites.
